On Saturday the 20th January, Howard Walker with great help from Carol Heidchuster, the Works Manager of the Cathedral.has arranged for a tour of Lincoln Cathedral.
Sunday is the main day of worship, and so the cathedral has restricted access for viewing, which is why we are attending on the Saturday.
There are two different tours available. One is on the roof, and is limited to 28 people in two groups of 14. One starts at 11.30 am and the other at 1.00 pm. These will overlap with tours of the floor of the Cathedral, allowing everyone to arrive and leave together.
Our member Carol Heidschuster is the Works Manager at the Cathedral Works Department, and she can arrange for the stone masonry workshops to be open and give a talk about the work carried out there.
Costs are as follows: The floor tour is £6.40 for a group booking, and the roof tour is £4 per head extra. You can keep the floor tour ticket as it is valid for as many visits as you like for 12 months, conditional on it being gift aided. Castle tour may be a little extra - costs to advise.
New - Castle Tour
We also have the opportuinity to tour the Castle, courtesy of Mick Bath, who is a club member and also works as a guide at the Castle. It's a tight schedule to do all three tours, so will need careful timing. People wishing to do the Castle tour will need to visit the Castle in the afternoon, and so must also select which tour of the Cathedral, roof or floor that they wish to do.
It also depends on how many people will be present.
Park and ride is recomended from Waitrose on Searby Road, Lincoln, LN2 4DS
- Adults: £2.50
- Accompanied children: free
- Concessionary bus pass holders: free
- Stagecoach Bus passes, including the Lincoln BIG commuter bus pass, are valid.
